Jacques Kallis praised South Africa for qualifying in the final.

Former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis lavished praise on South Africa Cricket team after they lost the final T20 World Cup 2024 against India in Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. Aiden Markram-led were the first Proteas team who featured in the final of any World Cup.

Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a nail biter clash where Virat Kohli was awarded as Player of the Match for his 76 run knock in the finale.

Yeah, that's been a good month and a bad month, as you say. It would have been nice to have won that World Cup, but I think the guys have excelled, you know, certainly gone further than any other South African team. So yeah, I think they've done well and can be proud of their performance" told Jacques Kallis in exclusive conversation with Sports Tak.

The legendary all-rounder said that it was one of the bad day where any team will lose the game.  The game was in favor of South Africa till Jasprit Bumah bowled two good overs and Suryakumar Yadav picked the iconic catch of David Miller in Hardik Pandya's over.

“I think South Africa will probably look back at it and say it's one that they lost. Having been in that position, he probably win that 19 times out of 20. And unfortunately, it was just one of those days where it was one of those games where you lose it” added Kallis.

While asked about Suryakumar Yadav's iconic game changing catch he said that you need lots of stars to align with you to win these kind of tournament. Suryakumar Yadav picked the crucial catch of David Miller at the boundary rope when Proteas were on the top of the game.

“That's a thing in tournaments like that, you need little things like that to go your way. You need lots of stars to align to win a tournament like that. But like I said, I think South Africa's done well to get that final and anything can happen on the day and you just need little things to go your way, which unfortunately, those small things didn't” he also said.
