BCCI president Sourav Ganguly expects to see former India captain Virat Kohli hit a century in the upcoming Asia Cup, which kicks off on August 27. Speaking to Sports Tak in an exclusive interview, the 50-year-old reiterated that Kohli needs to be playing more matches for India at the international level, but is still hopeful of a starring role by the 33-year-old in the Asia Cup.

"Virat needs practice and has to play (more) matches. He is a great player. He is playing very well but not getting a century. Hope he will do a century in this Asia Cup. I am very hopeful," said Ganguly.

Ganguly is also set to return to the field himself, this time in a one-off cricket match before the kick-off of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). He will lead team India against World XI. An elated Ganguly was very excited to play at the Eden Gardens after a very long time but is wary about emulating performances similar to his time as captain of the Men in Blue.

"I am very excited to play at Eden Gardens again. Very excited. This is a charity game on 75 years of Indian Independence —Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav... It is going to be a special game. I don't know what will happen because I am not in practice anymore... I don't know what will happen. I wish I can play cover drive like before. I wish I could connect the bat and ball well. I will play just one game. Will enjoy the game. It's a game for a good occasion and I am happy to participate in it.

Prior to the opening match of the LLC on September 17, the India Maharajas led by Ganguly, take on the Eoin Morgan-led World Giants as part of celebration of India's Independence. The special match will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on September 16.

"I don't know who will be the tough contenders. Everyone is getting old. All of us are retired. So tough in the weakest. I don't know I could connect the ball again or not. Or Send the ball to the gallery stands or not. Will try to play well," he said when asked about his predictions for the game.
