Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy 2025.

Both BCCI and PCB were recently involved in the ICC's annual conference in Colombo.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is making headlines that they are going to propose a bilateral series against India with the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) after the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan media was reporting that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi will put a proposal in front of BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the ICC annual conference happening in Sri Lanka.

However as per PTI, PCB made it clear that it has not proposed to play an offshore T20I series against India, they are currently focussing on the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

“There is no such proposal on the table or under consideration because right now the biggest challenge for us is to organise the Champions Trophy in a befitting manner and we also have a packed international schedule,” a highly reliable source told PTI.

The source said the PCB’s two main targets at the ICC meetings in Colombo were to get the budget approved for the Champions Trophy and then to get assurances from the ICC and BCCI that India would send their team to play in Pakistan in the showpiece. Earlier, BCCI denied sending team India to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 which was later played in Hybrid Model where India-centric matches were hosted by Sri Lanka

“That is our main agenda right now. So, there is no question of contemplating any bilateral venture with India,” the source added.

Champions Trophy 2025 will likely to start from February 19 and PCB have started preparing for the marquee event. However, the Indian cricket board is yet to decide whether they will travel to the neighbouring nation or not for the tournament. India will reportedly play all their matches in Lahore citing security concerns.

Team India last travelled to Pakistan in 2007 for the Asia Cup under MS Dhoni's captaincy. On the other hand, Pakistan were in India in 2023 for the ODI World Cup where they failed to qualify for the semifinals.

Even the participation of India in the Champions Trophy remains on tenterhooks with speculations doing rounds about Men In Blue wanting to play their matches outside Pakistan.
