Former India skipper and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly will be a part of second season of Legends League Cricket (LLC). Ganguly confirmed via his Instagram account that he will play a special match in season 2 for a social cause.
Ganguly wrote in his Instagram post with few photos of him at the gym, “Enjoying the training to get ready to play for one off charity fund raising game for azadi ka mahatsov.. 75 years of Indian independence and also for women empowerment with the top legends of the league cricket. Need to hit some cricket balls soon ..”
The 'God of offside' will be seen in action in front of the local crowd as the special match will be hosted in India.
“We thank legendary Sourav Ganguly for playing a match with other legends. Once a legend, always a legend, Dada is always there for Cricket. And he will play a special social cause match, which is going to be a spectacular view for our audience. We hope to see some iconic dada shots,” said, co-founder and CEO of LLC, Raman Raheja.
The 50-year-old has scored 1,726 runs from 77 T20s at an average of 25.01 including eight half-centuries. Ganguly is the ninth on the list of highest run-getters in the ODI format and fourth-highest for India.
In the last edition of LLC, India Maharajas could not qualify for the final. World Giants won the inaugural LLC season after beating Asia Lions in the final. In the first season, India's NatWest 2022 final hero, Kaif led India Maharajas. Naman Ojha turned out to be standout performer with the bat. Few players like Harbhajan Singh and Virender Sehwag could not be a part of the event which was played during the third wave of Covid-19.
“Legends League Cricket will be played in four cities; we will soon finalize the cities which are going to offer maximum cricket action in the coming days. It is becoming exciting the way we are receiving responses from legendary cricketers. We are also receiving lots of queries from people/ fans across countries about specific cricketers joining the league. Hope with these three new additions, we have brought happiness to some of our cricket fans,” Raheja said earlier this week.
