Opener Gongadi Trisha who wasn't roped in by any franchise in Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction became the first batter to score a century in ICC Under-19 Women T20 World Cup history. After an unbeaten 110, she bagged three wickets to wrap up the tail as India bowled out Scotland for 58 in 14 overs and won the match by a massive margin of 150 runs. Niki Prasad-led continued their unbeaten run in the tournament and reached the semifinal unscathed.
Solid opening partnership
Scotland skipper Niamh Muir won the toss and opted to bowl first. G Kamalini and Trisha used the powerplay overs well. In the fourth over, four boundaries were hit off Amelie Baldie. After six overs, India had 67 runs on the board. Trisha hit the first six of the innings in the seventh over. She reached her fifty from 27 balls with three fours in the ninth over. At the halfway stage, India were 104 for no loss. Trisha hit the fifth gear in the 13th over and hit Mollie Parker for three sixes.
Trisha's record century, India set mammoth target
The opening partnership was broken in the 14th over. Kamalini departed after reaching her half-century. She was dismissed by Maisie maceira for a 42-ball 51 laced with nine sixes. The openers shared a 147-run stand. In the 17th over, Sanika Chalke hit Gabriella Fontenla for three consecutive fours. Maceira was most economical of all bowlers as she conceded 25 runs from her quota of four overs. Trisha reached her century from 53 balls in the 18th over and scripted history at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. No boundaries were scored in the final over as India posted 208/1. Trisha scored 110 runs from 59 balls including 13 fours and four sixes. On the other end, Chalke remained unbeaten for a 20-ball 29.
Collapse of epic proportions
In the run chase, Pippa Kelly scored three fours off Shabnam Shakil's first over. She did not last long at the crease. Aayushi Shukla knocked her over in the second over. In the sixth over, Vaishnavi Varma struck twice to dismiss Emma Walsingham and skipper Muir. Scotland were 35/3 after powerplay overs. Vaishnavi struck in her second over to dismiss Pippa Sproul. Shukla struck thrice in the 10th over to get rid of Charlotte Nervard, Baldie and Fontenla. Scotland were reduced to 42/7 in the 10th over.
In the 12th over, Trisha was introduced into the attack and she dismissed Maceria and Parker off consecutive deliveries. In her second over, she wrapped up the innings with the wicket of Kirsty McColl. Scotland were bowled out for 58 and lost the match by 150 runs. This is the second-biggest win by runs in the history of the tournament.
