With Asia Cup 2025 set to be the Indian team's next major assignment, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be undergoing a fitness assessment ahead of the continental tournament. According to a report by the Times of India, the 31-year-old will be going through the assessment procedure at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12.
Pandya is quite an important player in India's T20I side
Pandya is a crucial part of India's T20I and ODI set-up and was a key player in the side's 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 ICC Champions Trophy triumphs. He will be expected to play a major role in the Men in Blue's Asia Cup campaign as well which is set to begin from September 9.
On the other hand, the report further revealed that Shreyas Iyer completed his fitness assessment at BCCI's facility in Bengaluru between July 27 and 29. The batter who last featured for the national team in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand will be looking to make a big impact in the upcoming Asia Cup as well.
Meanwhile, India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will be spending another week at BCCI's COE in order to gain full fitness ahead of Asia Cup. The batter is only present in India's T20I set-up as of current and will be looking to lead the side to the coveted title. Notably, Suryakumar is yet to win a major title as T20I skipper and will be looking to end the wait with the upcoming tournament.
Coming to the tournament, India have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE and Oman. They will be beginning their campaign with a clash against UAE on September 10 before facing-off against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14. Their final group stage clash will be against Oman and will be contested on September 19. The Super 4 stage of the compretition will begin from September 20 and the final will be held on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
