Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the most successful captain in the history of Indian cricket. MS Dhoni not only won the World Cup in two formats but led India to Champions Trophy win in 2013 as well. Dhoni has been a legendary captain for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well. The wicketkeeper-batter has led the Chennai-based franchise to five title wins before handing over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad. He is the joint-most successful captain in the history of the cash-rich league.

While Dhoni’s wife Sakshi has been in limelight since they decided to tie the knot in 2010, many don’t know about his siblings.

Dhoni’s elder brother is a politician

Dhoni’s elder brother Narendra Singh Dhoni wasn’t even shown in his biopic, MS Dhoni – The Untold Story. There were reports of the brothers not seeing eye to eye which weren’t true. Narendra left home when his brother was 10 years old. He was studying at Kumaon University when Dhoni decided to pursue cricket at a young age. In 2007, he returned. In the same year, he got married as well. He has a daughter and a son. He tried his hand in politics and joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). Later, he became a leader at Samajwadi Party. He is 10 years elder to MS Dhoni and lives in Ranchi with his family.

"Although I may have moral contributions in Mahi’s life, showcasing it would have been very difficult in the film,” Narendra said explaining why he isn’t shown in the biopic.

Dhoni’s sister’s influence in his life

Unlike his brother, MS Dhoni’s elder sister Jayanti Gupta was shown in the biopic. She is four years elder to Dhoni and supported him at every step on the way to becoming a cricketer. When Dhoni’s father did not want him to pursue cricket as a profession, Jayanti convinced him.

Sister married Dhoni's friend

Jayanti got married to Gautam Gupta, who is one of Dhoni's oldest friends. Gautam helped Dhoni in his early days when he used to play at the state and district level. Gautam works in real estate and lives in Ranchi. Jayanti likes to stay away from the limelight. She leads a normal life and works as a teacher at a public school in Ranchi.
