Pakistan sit second in the group with one win from one match and are widely expected to progress regardless of the outcome against their neighbours

Spinners are expected to play a key role, and India eyes momentum at the knockouts

India and Pakistan renew their fierce rivalry in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup on Saturday evening when the two sides meet at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a Group A fixture. India have already sealed a semi-final berth after two emphatic wins, including a 137-run thrashing of Hong Kong in which Smriti Mandhana scored a record 124.

Pakistan sit second in the group with one win from one match and are widely expected to progress regardless of the outcome against their neighbours. Historically, the contest has been one-sided. Pakistan have beaten India only once in the T20 Asia Cup, which was a 13-run victory in Sylhet in 2022.

Overall in women’s T20Is, India and Pakistan have played 17 times, with the Women in Blue leading 14-3. Their most recent meeting, at the T20 World Cup in June, ended in a comprehensive 64-run win for India.

Meanwhile, the match begins at 6.30 pm local time, which is 8 pm IST. With little jeopardy for either side’s qualification hopes, the focus will be on India’s middle-order batting depth and Pakistan’s ability to disrupt India’s strong top order on the slower Dubai pitches. Spinners are expected to play a key role, and India eyes momentum at the knockouts.
