Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has applauded the calm and composed nature of former India captain MS Dhoni in an interview with former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on his YouTube channel. Shastri claimed that there is no one like Dhoni, asserting that he has never seen him get angry. Both Shastri and Akhtar are in Muscat, the capital of Oman for the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC), where the former is acting as a commissioner while Akhtar is representing Asia Lions.

"Even if he scores a zero, or scores a hundred, or win the World Cup, or lose in the first round, it doesn't make a difference to him. I have seen a lot of cricketers, but there is no one like him. Even Sachin Tendulkar has a fantastic temperament, but he sometimes gets angry. But Dhoni doesn't," the 59-year-old Shastri said.

According to the 59-year-old, Dhoni has maintained a calm personality despite the highs and lows of the sport. He further compared Dhoni's temperament to former great and fellow World Cup winner Sachin Tendulkar. The former India coach believes, Dhoni has the patience and composure to look at things. Shastri, like Dhoni also won the World Cup in 1983 and has seen many players over the years before he made the comparison.

"If he can avoid having the phone in hand, he can avoid having the phone in hand. Till today, I don't have his number. I have never asked for his number. I know he doesn't carry his phone with him. When you want to get in touch with him, you know how to get in touch with him. He is that kind of a person," the former India head coach asserted.

Interestingly, Shastri claimed that he has never asked Dhoni for his phone number, despite being in his company for so many years, first as a commentator and then as a coach. Both Shastri and Dhoni have ended their stints with the Indian team, the former recently left the role of the head coach while the latter retired from international cricket. Dhoni was also Virat Kohli-led India's mentor in T20 World Cup 2021.
