ICC announces date and venue for WTC 2025-27 final, this ground to host for 2nd time

Last month, The Lord’s, London, received a demerit point for providing a pitch that heavily favoured the seamers. The iconic ground hosted the previous WTC edition’s final between Australia and South Africa which the latter won by five wickets to script history.

The last time Kennington Oval hosted a WTC final was for the 2021-23 edition. India and Australia played the final with Pat Cummins registering a one-sided 209-run win. Earlier, the inaugural edition’s final in 2021 was played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, where New Zealand beat India by eight wickets.

Currently, Australia are leading the WTC 2025-27 standings with seven wins from eight Tests. They are followed by reigning champions South Africa with three wins from four Tests. India are ranked fifth with four wins, as many losses and a draw from nine Tests. England, West Indies and Pakistan are three teams who have suffered point deductions for maintaining slow over rate.
