The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month for May 2026, highlighting standout talent from South Asia. The three-man shortlist features two exceptional cricketers from Bangladesh alongside a prominent all-rounder from Nepal, all recognised for their impactful international performances over the past month.
Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim
Among the nominees is veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who played a monumental role in guiding Bangladesh to a decisive 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan in the current ICC World Test Championship cycle. Rahim anchored the batting line-up by accumulating 253 runs across the two matches, finishing with an impressive average of 63.25. His standout moments included a vital 71 in the opening Test and a brilliant, match-defining 137 in the second Test held in Sylhet. These contributions not only earned him the Player of the Series award but also secured a historic, second consecutive Test series triumph for Bangladesh against Pakistan.
Bangladesh's Taijul Islam
Joining Rahim from the Bangladesh camp is left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who served as the spearhead of the bowling attack throughout the series against Pakistan. Taijul finished the historic assignment as the leading wicket-taker, dismantling the opposition batting order to claim 13 dismissals at an exceptional average of 19.61. His defining moment arrived during the second Test in Sylhet, where he delivered a marathon spell of 34.2 overs to tear through the opposition, picking up figures of 6 for 120 in Pakistan’s second innings. Beyond his primary role with the ball, Taijul also chipped in with a vital 58 runs down the order, proving to be an indispensable asset in securing a historic clean sweep over their rivals.

Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee
Completing the trio of nominees is Nepal's premier all-rounder, Dipendra Singh Airee, who enjoyed a sensational run in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. Showcasing his prowess as a top-order batsman across six One Day Internationals, Airee smashed 249 runs at an average of 49.80, while maintaining a blistering strike rate of 110.66. His standout month with the bat was highlighted by a brilliant century against the United Arab Emirates, alongside two crucial half-centuries. Airee was equally lethal with the ball, reinforcing his status as a genuine match-winner for Nepal. He scalped eight wickets at an impressive average of 19.12, while keeping the opposition in check with a highly disciplined economy rate of 4.52. His crowning performance of the campaign came against the United States, where he delivered a devastating spell of 4 for 24 to anchor his side's victory.
