India's prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah has become World no.1 bowler in the latest ODI Player Rankings after a chartbuster six-fer against England in the first One Day Internationals of the three-match series on Tuesday.
Riding on his bowling wizardry of 6/19 at the Oval, Bumrah stormed to the summit of the bowlers' rankings by plunging three places up as he leapfrogged New Zealand's Trent Boult and Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi who are stationed at no.2 and no.3 spot respectively.
Bumrah's new-ball partner Mohammed Shami also made a jump up the rankings for bowlers, with the pacer rising three places to equal 23rd on the back of his three-wicket haul against England.
Bumrah broke Ashish Nehra’s 19-year-old record to register best bowling figures by an Indian against England in ODIs. Bumrah took six wickets for 19 runs in his 7.2 overs in 2003 World Cup, Nehra took six wickets for 23 runs. However, the left pacer arm got these wickets in Durban, South Africa.
