The International Cricket Council (ICC) on September 14 (Wednesday) announced the latest T20I rankings in all three individual categories. For their remarkable performances in the recently-concluded Asia Cup, former India captain Virat Kohli and Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga enjoyed massive gains in the latest rankings.
In batting, Kohli jumped 14 places and is now ranked 15, just one place below captain Rohit Sharma, who is currently ranked 14th. Kohli smashed 276 runs in five matches in the Asia Cup with the help of a century and two fifties. Suryakumar Yadav is the highest-ranked Indian batter and he is also the only Indian batter in the top 10. The swashbuckling right-handed batter is perched on the number four spot.
In bowling, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who ended the Asia Cup campaign with a stunning spell (5/4) against Afghanistan, is ranked number seventh on the rankings. He is also the highest-ranked Indian bowler. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood continues to be the number-one ranked T20I bowler.
When it comes to all-rounders, Wanindu Hasaranga jumped seven spots to fourth while Shakib Al Hasan displaced Mohammad Nabi as the top-ranked all-rounder in the shortest format of the game. Hardik Pandya is the only India all-rounder ranked inside the top 20. He is ranked seventh in the latest T20I all-rounder rankings.
