The world is consistently targeting the Indian cricket team for its dismal performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has also joined the bandwagon. The speedster believes that the current Indian team is divided into two groups and ‘one is against the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli’.
“I’m feeling right now India is divided into two groups in which one is against Virat Kohli and it’s clearly visible. I know the reason behind this; it might be because Kohli is playing the last T20 World Cup as a captain which perhaps is a good decision. But he is a great player and should be respected,” Akhtar told in a video on his YouTube channel.
Moreover, the fast bowling icon believes India’s body language against New Zealand was without any sort of gameplan.
“India played bad cricket against New Zealand and their mindset wasn’t right. Their heads were down after losing the toss, they had no idea what’s going around. India, you had lost the toss that time, not the entire match. India were playing there with no game plan,” the 46-year-old told while criticizing India’s strategy.
India will face off Afghanistan in their Super 12 clash tonight. The Kohli-led Indian camp has to come out all guns blazing against Mohammad Nabi’s squad if they want to stay alive in the tournament. Indian fans will keep a close eye on their team as a failure against Afghanistan will end their bleak hopes for entering the last-four stage.
The good news Indian fans is that middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, who missed out a game against New Zealand on Sunday, was seen practising in the nets as well. Furthermore, all-rounder Hardik Pandya had bowled a couple of overs against the Kiwi opposition.
