Jasprit Bumrah has passed the fitness test at CoE.

Bumrah is fit and available for selection on Sri Lanka tour.

India’s pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has cleared the fitness test at Centre of Excellence (CoE), Bengaluru ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, starting on August 15. Bumrah had suffered an impact knee injury in the second ODI of the three-ODI series against England. He was included in the Test squad subject to fitness. With more than two weeks to go for the Test series opener, Bumrah has been declared fit and available for selection.

"Jasprit Bumrah has recovered from his impact injury. He has cleared the fitness Tests mandated by the COE. Hopefully he will be available for both games as he is integral to the team's plans," a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

It is not clear whether Bumrah will play in the four-day practice game in Colombo which begins on August 7. The 32-year-old hasn’t played a Test since November 2025. He was rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan as well.

Bumrah’s participation is crucial to India’s chances of reviving their chances of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. India are currently placed fifth in the standings, just above Sri Lanka who have managed just one win from four Tests in the ongoing cycle.

Meanwhile, there is a question mark over Sai Sudharsan. The top order batter has sustained a hamstring injury during India A’s unofficial two-Test series against Sri Lanka A. Earlier this week, a TOI report claimed that Sudharsan will resume batting next week. Devdutt Padikkal is his back up in the squad. Padikkal scored 173 runs from three innings against Sri Lanka A, including two half-centuries.

Also, skipper Shubman Gill is consulting specialists outside the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team for his neck pain which made him miss the second Test against South Africa and a match during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
