Indian cricket players have received a big update on the jersey trouble they have been facing ahead of kicking off their Asian Games campaign in Japan. The men’s cricket team will take the field in their standard BCCI jersey for the one-off T20 International against Japan on 22 September, after the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports confirmed that the ongoing kit controversy has been settled.
Sources in the ministry told ANI that the squad has now received its official Asian Games kits for the remainder of the tournament. The match against Japan is a friendly fixture, separate from the multi-sport event, which is why the team will appear in regular Board of Control for Cricket in India colours.

The issue had arisen from sizing problems with the official Asian Games apparel supplied by JSW Inspire, the Indian Olympic Association’s kit partner. There had been repeated exchanges between the BCCI and the supplier in the days leading up to the team’s departure for Japan.
It was reported earlier that some of the jerseys were rectified following the size issue, while the other players were still waiting to receive their kit, which fitted them. Meanwhile, the 20th Asian Games are being staged in Aichi-Nagoya from 19 September to 4 October.
India, the defending gold medallists in men’s cricket from the previous edition, are scheduled to begin their campaign in the quarter-final stage on 28 September. The friendly against Japan also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. With the uniform matter now closed, the Shreyas Iyer-led side can focus on preparation for both the bilateral game and the Asian Games competition.
