Vidarbha were bowled out for 383 in Ranji Trophy semifinal.

A part of India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 travelling reserves, all-rounder Shivam Dube, proved his mettle in the high stakes Ranji Trophy 2024-25 semifinal against Vidarbha. The medium pacer bagged a five-wicket haul to help Mumbai bowl out Vidarbha for 383 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur on February 18.

On Day 1, Dube got Parth Rekhade caught at the second slip by India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav. Early in the third session, he turned out to be the partnership breaker with the prized wicket of Karun Nair who scored 45 runs from 70 balls. He edged one to the wicketkeeper Akash Anand. He bowled a total of nine overs on Day 1.

On Day 2, Dube mopped up the tail in the first session. He got the wickets of Nachiket Bhute, Harsh Dubey and Yash Thakur to complete his five-wicket haul. He conceded 49 runs from 11.5 overs. Vidarbha were bowled out for 383 from 107.5 overs after half-centuries from Dhruv Shorey, Danish Malewar and Yash Rathod. Apart from Dube, left-arm spinner Shams Mulani and Royston Dias claimed two wickets each whereas Shardul Thakur managed one scalp.

This is Dube's third fifer of his first-class career. His best performance with the ball in red-ball cricket is seven wickets for 53 runs. His bowling average in the format is 21.5.

Dube could not do much with the bat. The left-handed batter was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Rekhade as he contributed to the batting collapse.

Earlier, in the quarterfinal clash against Haryana, he remained wicketless in both innings. At Eden Gardens, he bowled nine overs and conceded 34 runs. With the bat, he contributed with scores of 28 and 48 as Mumbai beat Haryana by 152 runs.

Dube's impressive spell vs England

In the recently-concluded T20I series against England, a controversy erupted as Harshit Rana was named as Dube's concussion substitute. The Mumbai all-rounder scored a half-century and then Rana made his T20I debut as a concussion substitute and picked up three wickets. Many felt that it was not a like-for-like replacement. In the next game, he bowled two overs at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and took two wickets for just 11 runs including opener Phil Salt.
