Ireland on May 14 announced their squad for the limited-overs series including three ODIs against West Indies at home starting May 21. Lorcan Tucker has been named vice-captain while Paul Stirling will continue to lead the side in both white-ball formats.
There are three new editions to the Ireland side. Batter Cade Carmichael and pacers Tom Mayes and Liam McCarthy have been picked. McCarthy is a part of both squads whereas Carmichael and Mayes will play in the ODIs.
"Cade Carmichael has been in the pathway for several years now. His talent, stroke play, and resilience were on full display for the Wolves in April, and his rise over the last couple of years is a real demonstration of how consistent performances - and his ability to adapt his game to conditions - have been recognised with an International call-up," said selector Andrew White.
"In a similar vein, two seam bowlers - Liam McCarthy and Tom Mayes - have also been recognised for consistency and demonstrating the ability to step their game up a level at each time of asking. Both players offer something different to the squad - Mayes with his height and accuracy, while McCarthy brings a slightly different dynamic to our attack and will certainly challenge the batters techniques."
After the conclusion of the ODI series, West Indies will head to England for white-ball series. The Caribbean side will return to Ireland for three-T20I series which will be played from June 12 to 15. Ben White and Ross Adair will join the squad next month as they have been picked only for T20Is.
