Ireland women's team's left-arm spinner Aimee Maguire who bagged three wickets for 57 runs in the series opener has been reported for suspect bowling action. Maguire can still bowl in international cricket but as per ICC regulations, she needs to get her action tested at an ICC-accredited testing centre. The test needs to take place within two weeks.
On January 12, the 18-year-old was not picked in the playing XI and was replaced by Alana Dalzell.
Graeme West, the director of high performance at Cricket Ireland, said that the entire team and the support staff is behind Aimee.
"The staff and players are rallying around Aimee, reassuring her that she will return with a stronger action and will continue to shine on the international stage for many years to come.
"The experience and expertise that we possess within our High Performance Coaching and Support Services at Cricket Ireland will provide Aimee with the care, support and guidance to deliver the remedial programme which will begin following the team's return from India."
Aimee, the standout Irish performer in first ODI
In the first ODI, Aimee was the standout performer for the visitors picking up wickets of opener Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol and Jemimah Rodrigues. Gaby Lewis's 92 and Leah Paul's half-century helped Ireland post 238/7. After a good start, young opener Pratika's 89-run knock and Tejal Hasabnis' unbeaten half-century helped India chase down the target in the 35th over. India won the ODI by six wickets. Apart from Aimee, 18-year-old Freya Sargent took one wicket.
