Ishan Kishan produced a commanding performance on day two of the 2026 Duleep Trophy final, scoring a double century while captaining East Zone against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The India wicketkeeper-batter reached the landmark off 270 balls and remained unbeaten as East Zone built a massive total of over 550 runs.
Resuming from an overnight score of 111, the side seized firm control of the match thanks to the skipper’s authoritative knock. Following the stunning innings, he has now become only the third East Zone batter in Duleep Trophy history to register a double century, following in the footsteps of Arun Lal and Saba Karim.

Additionally, he is also the seventh batter to have recorded a double century in the Duleep Trophy final. He has now joined the elite list of batters that includes Raman Lamba, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Anshuman Gaekwad, Yusuf Pathan and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
East Zone’s strong position puts them in a dominant spot as the final continues in Chennai. Kishan looks to power the side to win the title after 13 years. No batter has ever recorded a double century playing for the side. The highest record by any East Zone batter was held by Wriddhiman Saha, who had scored 170 against Central Zone in the 2012 final.
