In a series of interesting events, Jai Moondra is set to become the second Indian-origin player to represent Ireland in the ODI format after being included in the country's squad for the upcoming five-game series against Afghanistan on Tuesday, July 28.
Dream debut for Jai Moondra against India
The young left-arm pacer made a sensational debut against India in the two-game series after the side faced multiple injuries forcing to reshuffle its bowling attack. Notably, Moondra surprised everyone with his bowling performance, taking five wickets in two outings as Ireland completed a historic first-ever international series whitewash over the Shreyas Iyer-led side. For his impressive outings against India, he was rewarded with the Player of the Series award.

New era in Ireland cricket
Interestingly, the series against Afghanistan will mark a new chapter in Ireland cricket, as it will be the first assignment headed by Gary Wilson, who joined as the new head coach. He will be accompanied by former Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott, who is coming in as a temporary consultant.
“We are particularly pleased to have Jai Moondra and Byron McDonough in the squad," said Ireland national selector Andrew White in a statement.
