Joe Root, Harry Brook's centuries followed by Shoaib Bashir's fifer help England seal Test series against West Indies

England defeated West Indies by 241 runs to take 2-1 lead in three match Test seres.

Joe Root, Harry Brook's centuries helped England to defeat West Indies in the second Test match by 241 runs. With this win hosts England take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. England scored 416 runs in the first innings with Ollie Pope's (120) century. While chasing West Indies also scored a huge score of 457 in the first inning. But in the second innings, Joe Root (122) and Harry Brook (109) helped England to score a mammoth of 425 runs and gave West Indies a huge target of 385 runs. After this, with the havoc bowling of Shoaib Bashir (5) and Chris Woakes (2), England bowled out West Indies on the fourth day itself and captured the series with a huge victory of runs. Bashir picked the fifer which helped England to seal the series. 
 

England's record-breaking runs

 

England started the fourth day on 248 runs for the loss of three wickets. Root started his day on 37 runs and Brook at 71. Brook scored 109 runs in 132 balls with 13 fours. After this, Root scored a century of 122 runs in 178 balls with 10 fours and scored the 32nd century of his Test cricket career. England scored 425 runs in the second innings and this was the first time in the history of Test cricket when England scored 400 plus runs in both innings of a single Test match.

Chris Woakes, Shoaib Bashir dominated against West Indies

 

West Indies batters were seen struggling in the second inning when they came to chase 385 runs. The Island nation were unable to get a good start as they lost their half of the side on just 82 runs. Captain Braithwaite was the highest run-getter in the fourth inning scoring 47 runs in 48 balls including 8 boundaries. Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir helped England to get early breakthrough in the fourth inning.
