Misbah-ul-Haq lashes out on PCB, says they search for ‘scapegoat to save face’

Former Pakistan coach and captain Misbah-ul- Haq has lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their policies. Misbah said that even though if there is a shuffle in the coaches and players, the problem in Pakistan cricket will remain intact. Misbah who has coached the Pakistan team for nearly two years said that the PCB members only look for the scapegoats whenever the team suffers a defeat. He also highlighted the loopholes in PCB as to how the board members take U-turn in team selections and overall decisions.

‘We look for someone as scapegoat’
“In Pakistan, we only focus on one thing and that is the result. We don’t go beyond that and focus on things like our players and their skill development. After losing a match or series we look for someone as a scapegoat to save face. Nothing will change if we continue with this cosmetic surgery. You can change the coaches and players but deep down the problems will remain the same,” the veteran told Cricket Pakistan.
“First you made changes to the team but 10 days later you took a U-turn and brought the excluded players back in the fold,” the 47-year-old added.

Changes in World Cup squad
Similarly, PCB made changes to Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad. Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali replaced Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain respectively, while Fakhar Zaman, who was originally named as a travel reserve, swapped places with Khushdil Shah. Also, veteran Shoaib Malik walked into the squad replacing an injured Sohaib Maqsood.
