India is all set to face their traditional rivals Pakistan at the last league game of the Asia Cup. Ahead of the clash, former India captain Mithali Raj gave some tips to the team. The former player has urged the women’s team to concentrate solely on the game and block out external distractions. The 43-year-old also advised what not to focus on to avoid any negativity.

Speaking before the encounter in Dubai, Raj stressed the importance of preparation and role clarity. The former batter told the Times of India:
“You prepare for the cricket, not the noise.”
Raj added:
“We cannot control what people say outside, but we can control our preparation, communication and reaction under pressure.”
Raj acknowledged the emotional weight of the India-Pakistan rivalry, noting that it brings added pressure and national pride. However, she insisted players must treat it as “a cricket match after all” once they cross the boundary, warning against allowing outside expectations to create unnecessary strain.
India have already secured a semi-final place after strong performances in the group stage, including a comprehensive win over Hong Kong. The side enters the match as clear favourites, with a dominant head-to-head record against Pakistan in T20 cricket.
The Asia Cup remains a priority for India after their loss in the previous edition, serving both as a title-reclaiming opportunity and useful preparation for upcoming multi-sport events. The Women in Blue lead the neighbouring country team with 14-3.
