Indian star pacer Mohammad Shami creates history in the ongoing Bengal Pro T20 by clinching the first-ever hat-trick for Servotech Siliguri Strikers in their game against Shrachi Rah Tigers at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. The star right-arm pacer's heroics led the strikers to win the game by 24 runs.
Mohammed Shami takes hat-trick
Asked to set the target, Siliguri Strikers showcased a dominating batting performance and managed to post 208/4 at the end of the first innings. Leading the charge was Vishal Bhati, who played an amazing knock of 86 runs from 46 balls, hitting five fours and six towering maximums.
Karan Lal played a great supporting role with a 39-run knock, while Pramod Chandila accelerated the scoring in the death overs, hitting an unbeaten 36 off only 16 balls. Mohammad Shami finished the innings with a quickfire eight not out from two balls.
While chasing 209, Srachi Rarh Tigers rode on aggressive knocks from Shubham Dey Sr, who scored 48 off 25 balls, and Rahul Prasad, who gathered 44 from 26 balls. However, the lack of strong partnership proved costly as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Shami's hattrick arrived in the 16th over when he removed Shahbaz Ahmed on the fourth delivery, as the left-handed mistimed a lofted drive. Rohit Kumar was dismissed by Shami's surprising bouncer, top-edging it to deep square leg.
On the hat-trick ball, Shami dropped a stunning yorker against Dipanjan Mukhopadhyay and the batter played all over it to become the third consecutive wicket. Shami finished the game with the bowling figures of 4/27.
