Morne Morkel won't travel to Sri Lanka with the Indian cricket team for their upcoming three-match ODI and T20I series. Sairaj Bahutule, a member of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, is likely to be appointed as the interim bowling coach for the six-match white-ball series in the island nation by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As per earlier reports, Bahutule will join Gautam Gambhir's coaching staff, which will also be including Ryan ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar as assistant coaches. The fielding coach will remain T Dilip, who worked under Rahul Dravid's tenure. Together with the players, all of the coaches will depart for the tour soon.
Sairaj Bahutule to become interim bowling coach
Between 1997 and 2003, Bahutule (51), a former led-spin bowling all-rounder, played in two Tests and eight One-Day Internationals. Since spin will be a major factor in Sri Lanka, it seems like a good decision to select Bahutule. The NCA's bowling coach Troy Cooley was also an option for the BCCI to select.

The decision appears to have been carefully considered. Although the former South African pacer is unable to join the Indian Men's team in Sri Lanka due to personal issues, it appears that Morkel will serve as the team's bowling coach. As per the Cricbuzz report, Morkel, who currently resides in Sydney, has traveled to Pretoria to care for his ill father. Before the September home series against Bangladesh, there is a possibility that he will join the team.
Team India's coaching staff
As per reports, BCCI has also Gautam Gambhir's request to include Kolkata Knight Riders' two assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate in their support staff. Gautam Gambhir who took over the office after Rahul Dravid for the position of the Indian head coach will start his tenure with the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka
