Former India captain and legendary batter, MS Dhoni turned 42 years old on July 7 (Friday). Wishes poured in from all corners of the world for one of the greatest cricketers of all time. The wicketkeeper-batter retired from international cricket in 2020 after achieving heights that no other Indian captain has scaled in history. Dhoni won three ICC trophies (2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy) as captain.
On his birthday, two of Dhoni's longtime mates - Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina - with India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) penned a heartfelt birthday message for 'Thala'.
Jadeja, who recently won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 title under Dhoni's captaincy called his captain 'go to man'.
"My go to man since 2009 to till date and forever. Wishing you a very happy birthday mahi bhai. see u soon in yellow," Jadeja tweeted and posted a picture with Dhoni.
Former India and CSK cricketer, Raina also shared an emotional message for Dhoni. The friendship between Raina and Dhoni goes back years and the bond which they have created is 'unbreakable'.
"Happy birthday to my big brother @msdhoni! From sharing the pitch to sharing our dreams, the bond that we've created is unbreakable. Your strength, both as a leader and as a friend, has been my guiding light. May the year ahead bring you joy, success, and good health. Keep shining, keep leading, and keep spreading your magic," Raina said in a tweet.
The IPL 2023 was in a way a grand celebration of Dhoni, who received massive love and support across venues throughout the tournament. Dhoni played the entire tournament with a knee problem and yet, he led the Men in Yellow to a record-tying 5th IPL title.
The CSK skipper underwent knee surgery in Mumbai after the completion of the cash-rich tournament. It's not confirmed whether Dhoni will play in IPL next year but the wicketkeeper-batter had said that he going to do everything in his power to try and compete in the glitzy league next year.Â
