Babette de Leede will lead the Netherlands' pack in their maiden appearance in Women's T20 World Cup

The Netherlands has officially named the 15-player squad that will represent the nation in its historic debut at the Women’s T20 World Cup. Captain Babette de Leede will lead the side, which remains largely consistent with the group that earned qualification earlier this year. The only new additions to the roster are wicketkeeper-batter Rosalie Lawrence and bowling all-rounder Lara Leemhuis, both of whom have received their maiden call-ups for the prestigious tournament.

To prepare for the global stage, the Dutch team is scheduled to participate in a tri-series featuring Bangladesh and Scotland from May 28 to June 4. This series will serve as a crucial tune-up, allowing the squad to refine their skills before the main event begins. The Netherlands earned their place in the World Cup after a standout performance in the Qualifier tournament held in January and February, where they finished in the top four to secure this major milestone for Dutch cricket.

Netherlands, who are placed in Group 1, will compete against established cricket powerhouses including Australia, India, South Africa, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Their historic World Cup journey officially kicks off at Edgbaston on June 14, just two days after the tournament's opening ceremony. This first match against Bangladesh is seen as a critical opportunity for both sides, as each will view the fixture as their most realistic chance to secure vital points in an exceptionally difficult group.

The inclusion of Rosalie Lawrence and Lara Leemhuis is expected to provide significant tactical depth to the Dutch squad. Lawrence brings a valuable combination of reliable wicketkeeping and aggressive batting, while Leemhuis offers a versatile bowling attack characterized by effective variations. By integrating these new faces into the roster, the team management is signaling a clear commitment to developing fresh talent on the sport's most prestigious international stage.
