T20I side dismissed for 21 runs as 22-year-old leads the way with five wickets for 4 runs and 3 maidens

There are multiple cricket tournaments happening all around the world nowadays, but not all can be covered. However, every once in a while something happens in one of these smaller tournaments that catches the eye of cricket lovers everywhere.

During the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Europe Division 2 Qualifier between Jersey and Sweden, the latter was dismissed for just 21 runs, handing their opponents a massive 108 runs. It took the Jersey bowlers 9.3 overs to get all the wickets that they could, with the young Chloe Greechan shining spectacularly with the ball.

Jersey did not give Sweden's women players a chance to set foot on the crease while five of Sweden's female batters were dismissed for zero. None of the other batters could score more than 10. Chloe Greechan took five wickets for Jersey and conceded 4 runs, all coming in the same over as 3 of her four overs were maidens.

 

Jersey scored 129 runs in first innings

 

It was the 14th match of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2, being played at St. Clement's. Sweden won the toss and chose to bowl first. They lost four wickets in the first innings for just 55 runs. But after this, the skipper Greechan smashed 27 runs in 27 balls with a four to her name. Trinity Smith scored 23 runs off 28 balls with a four. This helped Jersey make a comeback and scored 129 runs for 7 wickets till the end of 20 overs.

 

Sweden team limited to 21 runs

 

Chasing a target of 130 runs for the win, Sweden got the first blow with the score reading just four runs. Soon after, their wickets fell like dominoes. The whole team was reduced to 21 runs in 9.3 overs. As all the 10 wickets were taken by the Sweden women's team fell within 17 runs. Greechan's impact was plentiful, as she also took 5 wickets for 4 runs with 3 maidens in a four-over spell.

This helped Jersey register a big victory of 108 runs, even with five of Sweden's players getting out on zero. Sweden's highest run-getter was Kanchan Rana, who could only score four runs.
