New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on July 1 announced their 16-member squad for the five-ODI series against West Indies. Jacob Duffy has retained whereas Matthew Fisher has received his maiden ODI call-up. Fisher made his Test debut against Zimbabwe last year and T20I debut against Bangladesh in April this year.
Pacer quartet’s workload managed
Several key players are missing from the squad as New Zealand begin their preparation for the next year’s ODI World Cup on South African soil. After the Test series win over New Zealand, pace trio — Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke — has been rested. Pacer Blair Tickner won't play after his appearance in the Trent Bridge Test. He has a scheduled ankle surgery.
Conway takes a break, several players in MLC
New Zealand's two openers — Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra — are unavailable for selection as well. Conway will spend time at home as he and his family welcomed their second child during the England Test series. Conway had left the series during the break between two Tests but returned to play.
On the other hand, Ravindra will fulfil his Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 commitment. It is not a new development but agreed upon before by NZC. Finn Allen and Tim Seifert and Lockie Ferguson are playing in MLC 2026 aswell. In addition, Glenn Phillips, who missed the third Test due to a side strain, is missing from the squad. No official statement has been made on his absence.
Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman have joined the squad, bolstering the batting lineup.

Players who missed the cut
Among the players who toured Bangladesh, Muhammad Abbas, Josh Clarkson, Dane Cleaver, Adithya Ashok and Ben Lister are missing. Earlier this year, Earlier this year, pacers Zakary Foulkes and Michael Rae were a part of ODI squad on India tour. They didn't find a place in the squad as well.
West Indies vs New Zealand ODI series schedule
The five-ODI series will kick off on July 12 in Guyana's Providence Stadium. The second and third ODIs on July 14 and 17 respectively will be played in Guyana as well. For the fourth and fifth ODI on July 19 and 21 respectively, the action will shift to Bridgetown's Kensington Oval.
