Indian wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan who is out of cricket since 2023 is set to make his comeback for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu invitational tournament which is scheduled to start from August 15. He will most likely to lead Jharkhand in the upcoming season. Kishan was last featured in the India vs Australia T20Is which was played after India's exit from the ODI World Cup 2023 and after that he was featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 where the wicketkeeper batter was seen struggling with form.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and men’s senior selection committee have already made it clear that all available players need to play for their respective states, and the Mumbai Indians (MI) opener, looking to find a way back into the Indian side, want to make the most of the upcoming season.
“Yes, Ishan Kishan is going to play for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu tournament. It is a prestigious tournament where all the top red-ball teams come and play. The conditions are challenging, and it’s the right way to prepare yourself for the long domestic grind ahead,” says a source aware of the development told News 18.
The BCCI have instructed players to take domestic cricket seriously by turning up for their state teams in domestic tournaments. “The BCCI will continue to monitor player availability and participation in the upcoming domestic cricket season, 2024–25,” read the media advisory shared recently by the BCCI during a recent team announcement.
This statement in the BCCI press release announcing India's T20I and ODI squads for the tour of Sri Lanka is a clear message to Indian players to remain available for competitions in the domestic circuit whenever they are not selected for the Indian team.

After opting out of the Ranji Trophy his national contract got terminated. As Rishabh Pant made his international comeback in international cricket the MI wicketkeeper batter has been ignored by the selection.
