In a recent interaction with Times Now, the Serbian star revealed that it was his 'friend' Virat Kohli who made him enter the world of cricket. Further revealing that earlier he hadn't followed cricket a lot.
"Yes, Virat is a friend and someone I, of course, respect and admire. He’s actually, to be honest, the reason why I started following cricket. I hadn’t followed it before, but through him, I started following it more," said Djokovic.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion revealed that he and Virat share a great bond of mutual respect and have a lot of admiration for each other. Talking further about the friendship, the Serbian star spilled beans on his visit to India, saying that hopefully Virat can join him too to have a game of both tennis and cricket.
"We keep in touch, and hopefully, when I come, I don’t want to say if, but when I come to India, hopefully, he can join me. We could do a little bit of tennis and a little bit of cricket, have fun, and just spread positive, good vibes while celebrating sport," Djokovic added.
It would be a great sight to watch these two icons of their respective sport having fun in India. It will be interesting to see if Djokovic plans a trip to India with Virat Kohli as his tour guide in the coming future.
How Virat Kohli has performed so far in IPL 2026
Virat Kohli has kicked off the IPL 2026 in a stellar fashion for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. So far in six innings, the 37-year-old batter has amassed 247 runs at an average of 49.40 and a great strike rate of 157.32. He has scored two half-centuries in the league, with a top score of unbeaten 69 off 38 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
It seems that after retiring from the T20Is, Virat has started focusing on creating more impact with a high strike rate. RCB's strong batting line-up is giving him the freedom to express himself with the bat.
