New Zealand totally dominated the third day of the first Test against West Indies thanks to centuries from both Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra. They had finished off Day 2 on 32/0 and their opening duo of Latham and Devon Conway continued to bat well the next day. The two took the score close to the 100-run mark, but Conway lost his wicket of 37 and this brought an end to the opening partnership of 84.
Williamson falls for cheap
Unfortunately for New Zealand, Kane Williamson failed to make much of an impact and was dismissed cheaply for nine runs. However, the duo of Latham and Rachin went on to form a mammoth stand. The two smacked the opposing bowlers all around the stadium with Rachin in particular hitting a ton of boundaries.

Both the batters would go on to reach their hundreds and wouldn't stop scoring even after achieving the milestone. It proved to be a gruelling day for the West Indian bowling attack as they got taken to the cleaners and struggled to pick up wickets. They finally managed to break the partnership thanks to Roach, who clinched the wicket of Latham as he departed back to the pavilion after playing a sensational knock of 145. The humongous 279-run stand between him and Rachin is the second-highest ever formed by a Kiwi pair against West Indies in Tests.
Soon after, Rachin would also end up losing his wicket after playing a phenomenal inning of 176 as Ojay Shields picked up his first scalp of the day. The wicket would come just three overs before the end of day's play. However, regardless of the setback, the Black Caps were clearly the better team on the day and finished on 417/4 with Will Young unbeaten on 21 and Michael Bracewell batting on six.
New Zealand head into Day 4 with an enormous lead of 481 runs. It remains to be seen for how long will they continue to bat on the upcoming day and what target will they hand to West Indies. At this stage, the hosts clearly look to be the favourites to win the match.
