Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on August 31 announced a revamped Test squad for the third and final Test of the series against England. Pakistan have released as many as seven players from the Test squad following the Lord's defeat. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, opener Imam-ul-Haq, vice-captain Salman Agha, left-arm spinner Ali Usman, pace-bowling all-rounder Aamer Jamal, batter Awais Zafar and pacer Khurram Shahzad will fly back home.
In addition to seven players, PCB has also released head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul. White-ball head coach Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke will take over the red-ball setup ahead of the third Test which is scheduled to commence on September 9 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Pakistan have recalled Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal. Ayub is currently playing in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 for Jamaica Kingsmen. Fazal was on the tour of West Indies but an injury ruled him out of the Caribbean tour and the England Test series as well.
Five uncapped players have been called up for the third Test. Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran Randhawa and Razaullah have received their maiden Test call-ups.

Babar Azam (c), Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Imran, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (wk), Razaullah, Saad Baig (wk) Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood and Ubaid Shah.
How 7 dropped players performed in West Indies and England
Rizwan registered scores of 12, 41, 71 and 41 on England tour. He did not score a half-century in West Indies either. Agha played one Test each on England and Caribbean tour, not scoring in 30s. Imam followed up a fifty in West Indies with scores of 3, 14, 9, 42 and duck followed by injury in Lord's Test.
Usman managed to score just 36 runs in eight innings on England and West Indies tour combined. But, he bagged a fifer in Leeds Test and six wickets in second Test of the series against West Indies.
Jamal did not play a single Test on England tour. He took just two wickets in the Test against West Indies. Zafar registered a single-digit score in West Indies and did not get a chance on England tour. Pacer Shahzad bagged six wickets in two Tests against England.
