Former Pakistan speedster Tanvir Ahmed opened up on India's batting after the 'Men in Blue' lost their ODI series against Sri Lanka 2-0. He said that India's youngsters will not carry forward the legacy of batting after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Team India lost a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and this is the first time after 27 years that Island nation won a series against India. India and Pakistan are the biggest rivals in cricket. Both teams feature in just ICC events because of India's take on not playing against Pakistan citing terror issues and players' safety. Both teams last faced each other in the T20 World Cup 2024 where India defeated them by six runs.
He also reckoned that India's bowling line up might work in future but the Indian batters can score runs on flat pitches and on home conditions.
"You see what happens to the Indian batting lineup from here on in the future. The bowling lineup might work it out but the batting lineup will find it difficult. All the new batters in this Indian team at the moment, barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they cannot carry forward this batting lineup in the future," Tanvir said as quoted by cricket pakistan.
"They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches but on pitches where the ball turns seams and swings this batting lineup of India does not have the life to bat in those conditions. They could have scores runs in the first match, that ended in a time, could have scored runs in the second and third ODI as well," he said.
He concluded that Pakistan can easily defeat India if they are featuring without Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.
"First look into your own performances and then have suggestions on Pakistan. If Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah does not play against Pakistan, Pakistan will beat India hands down," he concluded.
Now both India and Pakistan will face each other for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 where Pakistan are the current hosts of the marquee event.
