Avinash Sable did wonders in the Paris Olympics 2024 and among the 12 athletes in his heat, Sable has secured a place in the finals by finishing fifth in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. With this, Sable will now be seen racing in the final of the 3000-meter steeple chase event in the Olympics for the first time in his career.
Sable seals spot in Final
A total of 36 players took part in three heats in the men's 3000-meter steeple chase event. In which Avinash Sable was included in the second heat and he made it to the finals by finishing fifth with a time of 8 minutes 15.43 seconds. ahead of Avinash, Mohammed Tindouft (Morocco), Samuel Firewu (Ethiopia), Abraham Kibiwote (Kenya) and Ryuji Miura (Japan). The players who were in the top-5 in each heat got a place in the finals and in this way, with three heats, 15 players made it to the finals. The final match of Avinash Sable will be played on August 8.
Sable is in the Indian army
29-year-old Avinash, who comes from Maharashtra, had joined the Indian Army after passing 12th and Sable had first chosen cross country after coming out of the Army Athletics Program there. But after the injury, Sable's coach asked him to run in 3000 meter steeple chase and now he has come closer to the Olympic medal.

Talking about Avinash Sable, he made his debut in the Asian Athletics Championship in Doha in the year 2019. After this, Avinash Sable performed brilliantly and won the gold medal in the 2023 Asian Games. Which was also India's first gold medal in this event. Whereas Avinash had won the silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Which was also India's first medal in steeple chess in the Commonwealth Games. Apart from this, in the last 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Avinash Sable was the fastest among all the athletes who did not qualify for the final.
