The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has brought in former Australian head coach Tim Nielsen as the high-performance coach for the Test team. He will collaborate with head coach Jason Gillespie for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.

The duo previously worked together in South Australia, and Nielsen's extensive experience is expected to strengthen Pakistan's coaching setup for the red-ball format. Nielsen previously held the role of Australia's head coach from 2007 to 2011, succeeding legendary coach John Buchanan. Under his guidance, Australia clinched the 2010 Champions Trophy in South Africa.
Nielsen boasts a substantial domestic career in South Africa, featuring in 101 first-class and 49 List-A matches. His contributions extended beyond wicket-keeping, as he accumulated over 3,800 first-class runs and 639 List-A runs. Despite his domestic success, the England-born player never represented Australia at the international level. Nielsen has now joined forces with Jason Gillespie in Pakistan, where they are collaboratively overseeing the Pakistan Shaheen training camp in preparation for the Test series against Bangladesh.
Pakistan announce squad for Bangladesh Test series
PCB announced Pakistan's 17-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh. The matches will be held in Rawalpindi and Karachi in August. Shan Masood will continue as captain, while Saud Shakeel has been elevated to vice-captain. The squad includes three newcomers – Mohammad Hurair, Kamran Ghulam, and Mohammad Ali – who have impressed with their domestic performances.
Several key players, including Imam-ul-Haq, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan, have been omitted from the squad. Additionally, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are absent due to injuries.
