Story Highlights:

Ravichandran Ashwin hailed Vaibhav Suryavanshi's consistency

Suryavanshi led India U19 to 3-0 series whitewash vs South Africa U19

Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin was left in awe with Vaibhav Suryavanshi's consistently good performances and hailed him for achieving so much at the mere age of 14. This comes affter the batting sensation captained the India U19 side to a 3-0 series whitewash over South Africa U19 on Wednesday.

Suryavanshi claims POTS award

Suryavanshi was named as the Player of the Series for his massive contributions with the bat in the three games. While he was only able to score 11 runs in the series opener, he followed that up with scores of 68 and 127 in the second and third youth ODI respectively. With this, he continued his brilliant run of form at the international circuit ahead of the 2026 U19 World Cup.

Ashwin highlighted some of Suryavanshi's recent scores and remarked that it is difficult to explain in words as to what the latter is doing in his teenage years.

"171(95), 50(26), 190(84), 68(24), 108*(61), 46(25) & 127(74) today. These are just some of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s scores in the last 30 days across domestic & U19 cricket. Enna thambi, indha adi podhuma, illa innum konjam venuma? Translation ( what’s all this brother? Is this sample enough or are you going to raise the bar further) You can't explain in words what this kid is doing at 14," Ashwin wrote on X.

"With the U19 WC round the corner where he’s expected to be the showstopper, followed immediately by the leap to the IPL for his first full season as an opener stepping into the big shoes of Sanju, the next four months of #VaibhavWatch is going to be exciting, telling us everything about his temperament, hunger & character," he added.

Suryavanshi to set his sights on World Cup

Suryavanshi will now be gearing up for the U19 World Cup that is set to be played from January 15 in Zimbabwe and Namibia. He will not be leading the team in the tournament as skipper Ayush Mhatre will return from his wrist injury that had kept him out of the South Africa series. Vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra will also return for the World Cup where India will begin their campaign with the clash against USA on January 15.
