Unfortunately, Samit's innings was short-lived as he was dismissed on the following delivery. Samit Dravid struggles in Maharaja Trophy

 

Rahul Dravid's son, Samit, continued his disappointing form in the Maharaja T20 tournament. Batting for Mysuru Warriors against Bengaluru Blasters, he was dismissed for seven runs, marking his second consecutive low score. Mysuru Warriors found themselves in trouble with three early wickets when Samit joined captain Karun Nair at the crease. Samit Dravid made a promising start to his innings, launching a powerful six off the bowling of Gneshwar Naveen. However, his stay at the crease was short-lived as he was dismissed on the next delivery. Naveen bowled a wide ball, tempting Samit into an aggressive shot. Unfortunately, Samit edged the ball to the wicket-keeper. Despite Samit's dismissal, Manoj Bhandage and Harshil Dharmani stabilized the innings for Mysuru Warriors, powering them to a big total.

Earlier, batting first, Mysuru Warriors posted a respectable total of 182 runs for the loss of six wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Harshil Dharmani played a pivotal role with a well-crafted 50, helping his team set a challenging target. Gneshwar Naveen excelled with the ball for Bengaluru Blasters, claiming four wickets. Chasing 183 runs for victory, Bengaluru Blasters achieved their target with five balls to spare. Bhuvan Raju played a match-winning innings of 51 runs, guiding his team to a four-wicket triumph.

Samit Dravid's impressive track record

 

Samit Dravid, a rising star in Indian cricket, made a strong impression during the 2023-24 Cooch Behar Trophy. Batting in the middle order for Karnataka, he played a crucial role in their championship-winning campaign, accumulating 362 runs from eight matches.

His exceptional talent was highlighted by a commanding innings of 98 runs against Jammu and Kashmir. Beyond his batting prowess, Samit showcased his versatility as an all-rounder, contributing significantly with the ball. He claimed 16 wickets throughout the tournament, including a pivotal two-wicket haul in the final against Mumbai.

 

Samit Dravid follows in father's footsteps

 

Samit has displayed remarkable composure under pressure, reminiscent of his father, Rahul Dravid. The former Indian captain has played a pivotal role in mentoring his son, offering guidance and support throughout his cricketing journey. Despite his demanding role as India's head coach, Rahul Dravid has actively participated in Samit's development. This includes notable instances such as Samit's impressive 125-run innings at the U-14 level. Rahul Dravid recently stepped down as India's head coach after a successful tenure that culminated in the T20 World Cup triumph. Under his leadership, India also reached the finals of the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup in 2023.
