Ranchi will remain a host venue for next year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Saurabh Tiwary confirmed on Friday. This comes after several reports emerged where it was stated that Ranchi was dropped as a venue. However, the JSCA secretary has now rejected media reports that the city was set to lose the fixture.

Tiwary told reporters there had been no change to the schedule. He said:
“There is no change in the venue.”
Tiwari added:
“If anybody has to write to the BCCI about it, it should be me and I have not written it."
The clarification follows reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was considering moving the fourth Test of the 2027 series away from the JSCA International Stadium. The match is currently scheduled for 19-23 February 2027.
Concerns had been raised about early sunsets in Ranchi during the winter months, which could reduce available playing time and make it harder to complete the required 90 overs each day. Alternatives reportedly under discussion included Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Rajkot.
India to hist Australia in five-Test series
The five-Test series against Australia is due to begin in Nagpur on 21 January 2027, followed by Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi and Ahmedabad. While the BCCI has yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, the JSCA secretary’s firm denial has provided clarity for local fans and organisers.
India is all set to host Australia for a five-Test series (BGT 2027), with the opener scheduled in Nagpur. It will be held from January 21 to 25. This will be followed by the second Test in Chennai from January 29 to February 2. The series will be followed in Guwahati from February 11 to 15, with the fourth Test moving to Ranchi from February 19 to 23. It will be concluded in Ahmedabad from February 27 to March 3.
