India's star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is expected to be named in the squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which the BCCI will likely announce within the next couple of weeks. Since making his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in July 2015, the 30-year-old from Kerala has played 42 matches, scoring 861 runs with the help of three centuries and two half-centuries.
Sanju Samson's dream of hitting six sixes in an over
Last year was particularly remarkable for Samson, as he became the first cricketer in the world to score three T20I centuries in a single calendar year. He has also played 16 ODIs for India, where he has one century and three fifties to his name. During a recent appearance on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube show "Kutti Stories," Samson was asked about a cricketing dream he hopes to achieve. His response was a unique one. The 30-year-old said he wants to smash six sixes in one over.
"Probably hitting six sixes in one over," Samson told Ashwin.

A handful of cricketers have managed to hit six sixes in an over in a T20I match. Yuvraj Singh was the first to achieve this historic feat, doing so against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup in Durban. Following him, legendary West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard replicated the achievement against Sri Lanka in 2021. More recently, Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal accomplished it against Qatar in April 2024, and Manan Bashir of Bulgaria joined the exclusive club against Gibraltar in July 2025. In the ODI format, only two batsmen have hit six sixes in an over: Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa and Jaskaran Malhotra of the USA.
Meanwhile, rumours suggest that Sanju Samson is unhappy with the Rajasthan Royals management and has formally requested to leave the franchise. Samson has been a cornerstone of the team, playing 149 matches for the Jaipur-based side and scoring over 4,000 runs. He holds the records for both the most appearances and the highest run total for the inaugural IPL champions.
