The Irani Cup 2024 is scheduled to be the next major domestic cricket event in India. The victor will be determined like it has always been traditionally. The reigning Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai will be competing against the Rest of India side. The BCCI released the teams' squads well in advance of the October 1 encounter at Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. While there are some very huge names in the Rest of India squad, one name that is a striking omission is renowned wicketkeeper-batter, Sanju Samson.
Why is Sanju Samson not part of the Rest of India team?
Due to his likelihood of being featured in the squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, Sanju Samson was not selected for the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup 2024. The bilateral series is scheduled to start from October 6. The players who were chosen for the teams will not be able to attend the Indian camp, which will start well in advance of the series, when the Irani Cup match is taking place, as it is scheduled to take place from October 1–5.
This is further supported by the fact that players who are regulars in the Indian T20I league, like as Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi, are not included in the Rest of India side. The Indian T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, is likewise absent from the Mumbai squad for the Irani Cup 2024.
