Pakistan cricket team's horrid outing in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 was really alarming. This was the second consecutive ICC tournament under Babar Azam's captaincy in which the Men in Green failed to get past even the group stage. Former PAK skipper Shahid Afridi has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for giving way too many chances to Babar despite his failure as a captain.
Shahid Afridi slams PCB
Babar relinquished captaincy after the ODI World Cup 2023 after which the T20I captaincy was handed over to pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. However, just after one series, Babar was reinstated by the PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi for the T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies. However, the team suffered even loss against USA and also arch-rivals India that resulted in their exit from the group stage itself. Now Shahid Afridi has openly said that Babar has gotten way too many chances than any captain.

"They should take a decision on the captain or the coach and then give them time. As far as Babar is concerned, we have also captained a lot and a captain never got so many chances. As soon as the World Cup is over, often the captain used to be the first one who got the blame. 2-3 World Cup, 2-3 Asia Cups, he has got enough opportunities," Afridi said in a video which went viral on social media.
Shahid Afridi on PCB sacking Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq
PCB in a sudden and shocking move sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from its selection committee after the team's horrid T20 World Cup campaign last month. Afridi questioned why PCB has only sacked Riaz and Razzaq from the committee of 6-7 people.
"I got to know that only Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz have been sacked from the selection committee. I don't understand this surgery. If the selection committee is of 6-7 people then why only these two have been removed?" Afridi added.
