22-year-old Muhammad Shahzad scripted history on Day 1 of President's Trophy Grade-1 match's Day 1. Playing for Pakistan Television against Hyderabad Kingsmen Academy, Shahzad slammed the fastest first-class century by a Pakistani batter. The youngster completed his century from just 49 balls, breaking Misbah-ul-Haq's 12-year-old record.
Misbah had slammed a 56-ball century against Michael Clarke-led Australia in the second Test of the series in Abu Dhabi. Misbah had equalled West Indies' Viv Richards' record for fastest Test century which was broken by New Zealand's Brendon McCullum with a 54-ball century against Australia in second Test of the series in 2016.

Batting at no.5, Shahzad scored 114 runs from 62 balls, featuring 12 fours and eight sixes. Day 1 of the four-day match. He had arrived at the crease when Pakistan Television had lost three wickets for 34 runs. He was eventually dismissed by Zia-ul-Haq. He had shared a 143-run stand with Mohammad Taha, who scored 43 runs from 72 balls.

Shahzad had represented Pakistan's Under-16 and Under-19 sides. He represented them in the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. He had played just two games and scored 27 runs in the tournament.
From age-group cricket to PSL but yet to make a name
Shahzad has been part of Multan Sultans and Islamabad United squads. He made his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut in 2025 edition for Islamabad United. He played six games and scored 24 runs from four innings. He was dismissed for duck twice and registered high score of 24. Earlier this year, he had scored two consecutive half-centuries for Multan Region in National T20 Cup.
Shahzad’s domestic cricket numbers
So far, Shahzad has played 21 first-class games including the ongoing match. From 36 innings, he has scored 1,507 runs averaging just over 47 including six tons and as many fifties. His strike rate in red-ball cricket is in mid 80s.
He has played 22 List A games and scored 563 runs at an average nearly 30 and strike rate of approximately 90. He is yet to score a One-Day century but has four fifties. He has 26 T20s under his belt, scoring 434 runs from 21 innings at an average of 22.84 including three half-centuries.
He is a handy pacer as well, bagging 27 wickets at an average of 25 including a fifer in first-class cricket. He has five and four wickets in List A and T20s respectively.
