Shubman Gill likely to captain India 'A' against New Zealand 'A': Reports

India's star opener Shubman Gill is likely to be given the onus to lead India ‘A’ team for the in both the three four-day games and three one-dayers against New Zealand ‘A’, as per reports by Times of India. Moreover, Ranji Trophy 2022's leading wicket-taker Shams Mulani is also expected to receive his maiden India ‘A’ call-up.

 

The three matches against New Zealand ‘A’ will take place from September 1-4, September 8-11 and September 15-18 respectively as all the matches will be played in Bengaluru. Further the teams will move to Chennai for the 3 One-Dayers which is scheduled to be played on September 22, 25, and 27 respectively.


Meanwhile, youn guns Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also expected to be named in the squad by the BCCI, which is yet to be announced. Also returning will be Washington Sundar, who recently suffered a shoulder injury but is expected to recover in time. Sundar had to miss out on the Zimbabwe tour for the same reason.

 

Gill is currently part of India's squad in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. He  scored an unbeaten 82 in the first ODI against Zimbabwe and later followed it up with a modest 33 in the second match.
