In the tri-series final at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on May 11, Smriti Mandhana's 116-run knock helped India register highest ODI score on Sri Lankan soil. India won the toss and posted 342/7 on the board against Chamari Athapaththu-led Sri Lanka to script history. 

On May 7, India had broken the record for highest score on Sri Lanka soil with 337/9 against South Africa. The previous record of highest ODI score against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka belongs to England. In 2019, England posted 331/7 in Hambantota.

Mandhana's major feats

Mandhana scored 116 runs from 101 balls. Now, she is third on the list of most ODI centuries. The southpaw surpassed England's Tammy Beaumont. The top spot belongs to former Australia captain Meg Lanning (15) followed by New Zealand's Suzie Bates (13).

Mandhana became the fourth Indian batter to score an ODI century against Sri Lanka. Mithali Raj (125 not out) achieved the feat first in 2018. In 2017, Thirush Kamini (113 not out) did it against Ireland in Colombo. A few days earlier, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 123 against South Africa. 

Earlier, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat first. She made one change by handing debut cap to pacer Kranti Goud. Pratika Rawal and Mandhana shared a 70-run opening partnership. Mandhana hit 15 fours and two sixes before falling to Dewmi Vihanga in the 33rd over. Harleen Deol (47), Harmanpreet (41) and Rodrigues (44) got off to good starts but missed their respective half-centuries. Then, cameos from Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma helped India get to 342/7. Deepti batted at no.8 and remained unbeaten for 14-ball 20.

For Sri Lanka, Malki Madara was the most expensive bowler with two wickets for 74 runs in her quota of 10 overs. Vihanga and Sugandika Kumari claimed two wickets each as well. 

Sri Lanka's highest ODI run chase and overall

The highest run chase at the venue at the venue belongs to Sri Lanka. The host chased down 276 earlier in the tri-series. Overall, the highest ODI successful run chase belongs to Sri Lanka as well. Last year, Sri Lanka chased down 302 against South Africa.
