The Ireland board's chief executive, Warren Deutrom, had before referred to the choice to host South Africa for a white-ball series in Abu Dhabi as a "creative" solution to get over the infrastructure limitations. A two-match Twenty20 International series will kick off the series on Friday, September 27 and run through Sunday, September 29. Abu Dhabi's Zayed Cricket Stadium will host both matches. The T20I series will be followed by a three-match ODI series that will also be hosted by the same venue. October 2 is when the one-day internationals will begin, and October 7 is when the last match will take place.
