A T20 Blast 2026 game ended in a tie at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, days after India-England second T20I clash at the venue. Lancashire and Derbyshire shared points after Nick Potts' pinpoint yorker knocked over Matthew Hurst's middle stump.
As per the rules of the T20 league, there was no need for a super over as it wasn't a knockout game. It is a common practice on the international stage (T20Is) but not in T20 Blast group stage games.
The final over of Lancashire's run chase was dramatic. Derbyshire skipper Aneurin Donald handed the ball to Potts to defend 13 runs in the final over. On the first ball, Jack Blatherwick took a couple of runs. He got run out in an attempt to take a second run on the second delivery. Tom Hartley walked out to bat and gave Hurst the strike. On the last three balls, nine runs were needed. Hurst hit a couple of fours to level the scores. On the last ball, Hurst took a couple of steps but ended up making it a yorker as his middle stump was knocked to the ground.

Muqeem makes run-scoring tough for Lancashire
Earlier, Donald won the toss and opted to bat first. After a good start, Derbyshire lost momentum. James Anderson struck twice with the new ball. Hartley and Liam Livingstone took two wickets each. Mitchell Stanley and Shadab Khan got one wicket apiece as well. Martin Andersson top-scored with a 37-ball 49.
In the run chase, Keaton Jennings-led Lancashire lost the plot in middle overs. Pakistan's left-arm wrist spinner Sufyan Muqeem got three wickets including Livingstone. Shadab was dismissed for a single-digit score by Matthew Montgomery but Potts couldn't delivery the perfect delivery until the last ball. Lancashire were 150/8 in the end despite Hurst's 17-ball 30 cameo as the game ended in a tie.
Lancashire still in quarterfinal spot hunt despite tie
