The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly announce India's squad for the Test series against England on May 24, Saturday. India are scheduled to play a five-Test match series against England, which is scheduled to start from June 20, and this will be India's first red-ball assignment after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
As per PTI, India's young batter Shubman Gill is looking to pip his nearest rival Jasprit Bumrah as the new captain in the longest format of the game. This will be the first high-profile squad announcement since the retirement announcements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
PTI also reported that the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, is all set to announce the squad, which will comprise 16 or 17 members. India's T20 World Cup-winning star Arshdeep Singh and Gujarat Titans (GT) B Sai Sudharsan will be part of the squad.

This will be India's first red-ball assignment for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Earlier, the Men in Blue failed to qualify for the WTC final for the first time after a humiliating 3-1 loss in Australia in the five-Test match series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Before featuring against England, Team India will play an intra-squad involving India A, which will take place from June 13 to 16 in Beckenham.
