Story Highlights:

Mohammed Shami's last international outing came in ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Shami picked up nine wickets in five matches of Champions Trophy 2025.

India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami revealed that he had suicidal thoughts, but he opted against it after realising what cricket has given to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning star. The 35-year-old speedstar faced a lot of criticism after his ex-wife accused him of domestic violence, dowry harassment and match-fixing. She also claimed that the pacer had received money from a Pakistani woman.

Shami, who made his comeback in the ODI World Cup 2023 and ended his campaign as the highest wicket-taker, where India ended as runners-up, revealed his thoughts in the episode of Aap Ki Adalat.

"The thought came to my mind, but it did not happen, thank God, otherwise I'd have missed the World Cup. The thought came to my mind to end my life, but then I decided, this game, which gave me so much name, why should I jump to death, forgetting all these. I thought of the love and affection. Then I decided, forget this and focus on my game."

Shami also responded to the abusive things that were said about him on social media after his wife alleged domestic violence. He believes that the allegations he faced in the last 6-7 years are more than a terrorist would have faced.

"Bad things are spoken about, but nowadays those things are spoken about which do not exist.. I am most scared of that. Yesterday, I was looking at a photograph, and I didn't know when I had taken it. The number of allegations that have been levelled against me in the last 6-7 years, maybe even a terrorist would not have been levelled so many allegations. I cannot do anything in this."

Shami's last international outing came in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, where unbeaten India defeated New Zealand in the final to win the title at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The Bengal pacer picked up nine wickets in five outings. After India's Champions Trophy triumph, the pacer featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he managed to pick just six wickets in nine outings of the tournament.
